In addition, FoodTrust works to ensure that all of its grower/partners meet our standards, including progressive environmental requirements.
Approximately 85% of FoodTrust potatoes come from PEI farms that have Environmental Farm Plans as approved by the PEI Environmental Farm Plan Committee. The outstanding balance of potatoes used by FoodTrust is usually sourced from other areas to fill seasonal voids in Prince Edward Island potato production.
In the upcoming year, we will continue to strive to increase the percentage of potatoes we source from farmers who have an approved Environmental Farm Plan.
